Parents
In order to keep the community optimal for all who participate and avoid making the community less than ideal for others, parents agree to…

Be the primary teachers of their children.

Be fully responsible for his/her child’s education. Participation in Connections’ programs will enhance that education.

Ensure that his/her child completes weekly class assignments to the best of his or her ability.

Be involved with some aspect of the community. The responsibility and success of the community lies upon all members.

Play an active role in keeping the property cared for and help with any necessary cleaning.

Remain on campus for the duration of the day. If a parent cannot remain on campus for the duration of the day then it is his/her responsibility to find another parent who can be present in our absence for my child. This should be an occasional situation as to not become the standard.

Be in the classroom or designated area you are assigned to, or with your child during all class times. Parents are not to be in a classroom they are not assigned to or do not have a child in.

Parents’ primary responsibility in the classroom is to participate in the class.

Limit use of cell phones on campus as specified in Connections Policies.

Purchase the required materials for class participation.

Pay all fees by posted due date, including but not limited to, supply fees, lab fees, facility fees, insurance, etc.

Address conflict with any member of my family and another family by first going to the person the conflict is directly with. Handle conflicts according to Matthew 18. If the problem persists after confrontation, please enlist the help of your student’s Care Coach and/or the Community Care Chair.

Uphold the expressed virtues of Connections as listed in the Connections Standards.

Complete the weekly class assignments to the best of my ability.

Come to class prepared and participate in class discussion to the best of my ability.

Respect my tutors. I will not talk back or show verbal disdain toward my tutor. I will not speak over my tutor. I will listen to instructions, raise my hand before asking a question, and wait until I am called on to speak.

Honor peers and other students in the program in words and in actions.

Care for and treat all facility property with respect.

Keep electronic devices in a backpack or with a parent while on community property. There will be no cell phone use allowed at lunch or other non-structured times, unless pre-authorized at the beginning of the year for medical reasons.

Participate in the entirety of a class. Students cannot opt out of a part of a class.

Arrive to class and be prepared at the start of a class. Continued tardiness may result in a disciplinary action.

Uphold the expressed virtues of Connections as listed in the Community Standards. Strive to understand and perform the expressed virtue of the day.

Explorer/Examiner students must be accompanied by an adult to use the restroom.
